The solar pick, and its one honest caveat

The SUP467 is the watch for a woman who wants never to think about her watch. It charges from any light, runs roughly a year on a full charge, and at 30.5 mm across and 6.8 mm thick it sits flat under any cuff. Seiko publishes an accuracy figure for it — ±15 seconds a month — where it does not for many of its quartz references. The caveat is water: Seiko rates it splash resistant only, not to 30 m or 50 m, so it is a watch for hand-washing and rain, not the pool. Its lugs are also 12 mm, an unusual width, so a strap gift alongside it needs care.

What to check before you order
